About Girl Tech

Mission Statement

Girl Tech is a lifestyle brand that enhances the lives of girls 8-12 with stylish, technology-based and innovative product.

A Brief History of Girl Tech

In 1998 Radica acquired the start up Girl Tech® Company. Girl Tech's mission is to enhance girls' lives and foster their use of technology by bringing to market technology-enhanced lifestyle electronics just for girls ages 8-12. These products are designed with girls' play preferences in mind, addressing issues that are important to them such as privacy and communication. The web site (http://www.girltech.com) contains over 600 pages of content to help address girls' issues and acquaint girls with the uses of technology. It has been the recipient of numerous website awards and is also a great place to see the Girl Tech product line.

In 1999, Girl Tech revolutionized the toy industry with the introduction of a line of breakthrough products for girls, including the Password Journal®, which uses voice recognition technology to keep a girl's journal safe from intruders. In 2003 Radica updated and improved the Password Journal with an all new version. While maintaining the voice recognition lock and other features that made the two previous versions of this product so popular, the new Password Journal allowed girls to customize their journal by designing their own cover. Password Journal includes a gel pen and custom fit paper for girls to use their creativity to personalize their journal. Based on this success, Radica continues to expand the Password segment for 2004 with the introduction of new accessory items: Password Journal Scrapbook™ allows girls to customize the inside cover of their journal and record messages to accompany photos or mementos. Password Journal Jam 'N Shred Pen™ combines an FM radio with ear bud and a convenien built-in shredder to shred those private notes. Both products fit conveniently into Password Journal and make for a great gift ensemble.

Girls love to communicate and have fun with their friends. The all new Friend Chips™ product is being introduced in 2004 to give them a whole new way to communicate. Friend Chips uses instant messaging lingo to create password protected, digitally encoded messages on the four "chips" that can be passed back and forth between girls. Friend Chips includes two reader units and four chips to share with friends.

Another exciting addition to the Girl Tech line is My Photo Booth™. Girls love to strike a pose with their friends at the mall. My Photo Booth now gives them that photo booth experience at home or at a slumber party. Set the timer, pose in the mirror and watch the lights that countdown to the flash for fun pictures instantly. My Photo Booth uses Polaroid iZone film for easy refilling.
